Dr. Rickey McCray Jr.
Dr. Rickey McCray Jr. is not just one thing — he is everything God called him to be. Pastor. Teacher. Preacher. Author. Entrepreneur. Leadership Consultant. Singer. Songwriter. Worship Leader. Musician. A man of boundless gifts and relentless purpose, Dr. McCray has been featured on several nationally recorded albums and has built a life defined by one unshakeable conviction: “The Word of God must be spread through preaching, teaching, song, dance, literature, and creative art.” That belief isn’t just a statement — it’s a movement.

Dr. Rickey Allen McCray Jr. serves as the Senior Pastor of The Way Church in Indianapolis, Indiana — a role he carries with both fire and grace. He and his beloved wife, Robyn McCray, are proud parents to four daughters: Brittany, Aaliyah, Melodey, and Scyia. Grounded in academic excellence, Dr. McCray holds a Bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s College, a Master of Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry, also earned from Christian Theological Seminary. His education didn’t just sharpen his mind; it fueled his mission.

In 2012, God entrusted Dr. McCray with something extraordinary — the birth of THE WAY CHURCH. What started as a seed of faith has grown into one of the fastest-growing churches in the Indianapolis area, a living testament to what happens when vision meets obedience. At the core of everything Dr. McCray does is a fierce, unwavering belief: God has destined EVERYONE for greatness. That belief drives him to boldly stand in the gap for those who are oppressed, silenced, and marginalized — because no one gets left behind on his watch.

Dr. McCray’s passion for the next generation is nothing short of electric. In 2014, he founded We Care Indy — a groundbreaking youth organization that doesn’t just talk about change, it creates it. Youth are employed, mentored, and empowered as they learn and create media content while building character. To date, We Care Indy has transformed the lives of over 300 young people in the Indianapolis community, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive: entrepreneurship, financial literacy, conflict resolution, and career and college readiness. This is community impact at its finest.

In 2016, Dr. McCray launched Go Get It Thursdays — and the world showed up. Every Thursday at 6:30 AM, this electrifying weekly live stream ignites social media on Facebook and YouTube with a simple but powerful challenge: see your relationships through the eyes of God. Go Get It Thursdays pushes viewers to do the hard, beautiful work of self-growth, because Dr. McCray knows the truth — the more you invest in yourself, the better you communicate, the deeper your compassion, and the stronger every relationship in your life becomes. This isn’t just a show. It’s a movement toward better.

Dr. McCray's creativity doesn't stop at the pulpit or the stage — it flows onto the page. In 2019, he released his first children's book, What's All the Fuss Over Mr. Wilson? — a beautifully crafted story following a teenage boy's journey to uncover the true meaning of God's love, drawn straight from Dr. McCray's own childhood experiences. Then, in September 2022, he bared his soul with Some Things Are Worth Fighting For, a raw and redemptive account of his personal journey through forgiveness and reconciliation with his father. Vulnerable. Powerful. Transformative.
At the heart of everything Dr. Rickey McCray Jr. does — every sermon, every song, every mentorship, every page — is one blazing vision: to inspire and empower every single person to discover, embrace, and boldly live out their God-given greatness. The best is always yet to come.
